Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

Updated: Feb 28, 2023

Hey everyone- it's officially September and that means TWO things- pumpkin spice and the holidays are upon us!

Today, we are sharing top tips for celebrating the Fall season:

1. Visit a pumpkin patch

Every year my family would visit this one particular pumpkin patch and we would pick our favorite pumpkins to carve. These years, I still visit that same pumpkin patch. The holidays are a time for traditions- old and new. So, mix it up- pick out heirloom pumpkins for fun and interesting colors to liven up your front door OR pick out the tiniest of pumpkins and decorate them with stickers. Host a pumpkin carving party and award prizes to those with the zaniest, scariest and cutest faces! Don't forget to post pictures of it and have friends in your social media circle vote on them!

2. Make a haunted gingerbread house

SKIP the Christmas themed gingerbread house this year and create a ghoulish looking house for your cookie ghosts to haunt!

3. Sit around a bonfire

If it's cool enough- I live in Florida, so our fall weather takes a bit to kick in. Even if you sit around your television fire place, make sure you huddle around and tell spooky stories, eat delicious treats and snuggle in delightfully soft blankets!

4. Bake delicious goods

Which brings us to our fourth tip, bake some delicious goods- I'm talking cookies, banana nut breads, pumpkin scones, peanut butter brownies! Don't forget to share them with the neighbors.

5. Burn all the candles

I'm talking pumpkin spice, apple orchard, fall leaves (whatever that's supposed to smell like). I like to fill the house with the sweet scents of fall and read late into the evening. Make sure it's a scary book! I'm getting ready to dive into a book titled The Whisper Man by Alex North.

6. Get outside

The weather is finally getting cooler, and if you're not in Florida, the leaves are changing colors- it's the perfect time to get outside and enjoy nature. I love to take bike rides to my favorite coffee shop once the heat calms down- it's so relaxing.

7. Celebrate Pumpkin Day

And last, but certainly not least, celebrate Pumpkin Day- it's an official, unofficial holiday we at Out of the Box celebrate each year. It's held on September 1st and it's the first day we allow ourselves to partake in fall treats and our favorite Pumpkin Spiced Lattes!

So, here's to fall and Happy Pumpkin Day, y'all!
